The office of ‘town crier’ goes back a long way. Dressed in red and gold robes, white breeches, black boots and a tricorne hat, they ring a handbell to attract people’s attention, shouting the words: “Oyez!” ”Oyez!”"Oyez!” meaning “Hear ye!” a call for silence and attention. Criers were the main way of communication with the people of the town, many of whom could not read or write. Criers were protected by the ruling monarch, as they brought bad news as well as good! After ‘calling’, they would ‘Post the Notice’ to the door of the local Inn. As God’s Town Crier, I will proclaim His words to the people. He has ’awled’ me for life! It was a voluntary action on my behalf!!
Duet Ch 15:16,17.
“But if your servant says to you, ‘I do not want to leave you,’ because he loves you and your family and is well off with you, then take an awl and push it through his earlobe into the door, and he will become your servant for life. Do the same for your maidservant.” God is ‘posting’ me to the door of this ’site’! As the Kings messenger, I’ll ring the bell, proclaim His news, and ‘post the notice’. I pray you will be blessed.
